The Burmese military regime's Regional Control Command has forced to sign members of the peace group also known as Nye, a Karenni peace negotiation group, a guarantee not to get in touch with the Karenni Natinal Progressive Party, according to sources close to the peace group.
The forced to sign guarantee as the Aug. 16 after the SPDC's commitment on the political parties registration.
A source close to the peace group said, "All members of peace group in Kayah state have to come to Regional Control Command’s office for sign not to contact with the opponent groups, even Oo Saw Thein. 94, a tremble came and signed. This means to charge for if issuing on."
Members and organizations which close to the party are on worry, after National Unity and Development Party (NUDP) received the commission's approval on the 5th of this month, according to the resident sources Loikaw.
Karenni sources said that peace negotiation group in Karenni state cross border freely, but after the political party registration admitted, they (peace group) were banned not to contact with the opponents.
Khu Oo Reh, A secretary of KNPP said, "Before the party registration started, peace group claimed peace negotiation group made them legally cross the border and at that time we met and contacted, but no more contact after the parties registration started. Even in the constitutional laws stated that not to get in touch with the opponents."
The KNPP claims to neither peace negotiation group is still active nor silent, which would not make Burma willing to be negotiated with armed groups. According to peace missionary group is forced to sign for not to contact with KNPP, it is uncertain the peace negotiation group members will stop active and how many members will continue to get in touch with opponents in the future.
