Over the months of beginning raining season. However still low rainfalls have caused severe cash crops, such as nuts, Pyawkot and paddies were destroyed and even though next term planted, because of water shortages all across Burma, while many farmers suffering under serious water shortage, according to Karenni sources.
A local resident from Deemawso, said, "It did not rain when it needed to rain this year, we could not plough our farms and left it’s dry. Many seeds were dying under the rough soils when no raining upon the plants."
Farmers feel squeezed. In several township of Kareanni state, but in two townships of Bawlake and Deemawso-Wangot, Yaynipot, Hothar, Nanaw, Showlot, Sawlo, Hawkham, Dawtamagyi and Dawngeku villages – seversly villagers effected by drought then caused them on poverty.
Like many state in Burma at Burma, there were severally being felt in low ever as wells and ponds in Rangoon and Irrawaddy divisions, were empty of drying up. And also in Karenni state, water dried up more than three months ago, leading farmers to suffer water shortages since the beginning of April, according to the local sources.
Many farmers have to work in the remote areas, which work on mining in Mawchi, Mineshew, Phagan, Mushe provinces and while the others come to Thailand for work.
Taw Reh Poe, a director of Karenni Development and Research Group (KDRG), "It is hard to dealing with these problems. The villagers had no choice, they have to works on mining in Mawchi or trading instead of farming," he said.

There is growing concern among farmers in Karenni state that this year's harvests could be adversely affected by the late start of the rainy season and continuing low levels of rainfall and many feared crop yields would be substantially reduced by water shortages, especially if rainfall continues to be less than normal.
